Parts & Services - Accessories - Pipe Shoes

Composite pipe shoes (wear pads) help protect against corrosion of metal piping and prevent crevice, galvanic, and fretting corrosion. Pipe shoes also protect high alloy piping from abrasion and ensure the integrity of the piping system. Less expensive than metal shoes, pipe shoes also require no maintenance or specialized labor. Because they are mounted with adhesives, no hot permits are required. Custom sizes are available upon request.

Features

  • Adhesive mounted, no hot permits
  • Textured adhesive surface
  • Avoids problem of painting over welds

  • Minimal effort required to retrofit
  • Less expensive than metal shoes
  • Needs no maintenance
  • Standard color is light gray
  • Self-adhesive version allows very quick field installation, and the adhesive is not an OSHA hazardous material

  • ID fits IPS metal piping exactly
  • Made from glass reinforced resin

Unprotected Pipes
Expansion and contraction causes the pipe support to scrape the bottom of the pipe and creates a place for corrosion to start. Chemical atmosphere and proximity to salt air worsens the problem.

Plastic Slide Strips
Although better than nothing, the pipe must still slide on the plastic, and it eventually abrades the paint.

Inverted Tee Shoes
Fairly good solution, but nearly impossible to retrofit, and at the point at which they are welded, there is still a corrosion origination point. Stainless pipe shoes have the same problem.
